Unscripted Premieres April 2023: new and returning shows fill up the schedule in equal parts
April brought in many different programs on the main channels of Italian linear television: among the large amount of TV programs aired this month, half of them are TV premieres, while the other half are returning shows.

Starting with new TV programs, on Friday, April 7, Real Time aired Pazzi di Pizza (Casta Diva), the new traveling cooking show hosted by Sal Da Vinci and Fabio Esposito. Its debuting episode achieved 132k viewers with a 0.7% share. On Monday, April 10 Rai 1 broadcast the special musical event Sanremo 2023 – Tra Palco e Realtà (produced internally by Rai), documenting the performers’ emotions and reactions during this year’s edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, which recorded 1.9mln viewers and a 11.5% share. On Tuesday, April 11, TV8 launched the 6th season of reality competition Quattro Matrimoni (Banijay Italia), the local adaptation of British format Four Weddings which reached 313k viewers and a 1.8% share. On Friday, April 14, Real Time broadcast a new scripted reality show titled Pensavo Fosse Amore (produced by Stand By Me), hosted by Veronica Ruggeri who recounts stories of catfishing and other online romance scams. The premiere recorded 280k viewers and a 1.5% of share. On Monday, April 17, Real Time aired Tutti Insieme in Cucina (produced by The Branded Entertainment Department of Fremantle Italy). The new early evening cooking show hosted by chef Antonio Genovese reached 56k viewers and a 0.3% share. Lastly, on Saturday, April 22, Rete 4 launched Sette Giorni (RTI), the channel’s latest current news show hosted by Elena Tambini – that recorded 386k viewers and a 2.3% share.

As to returning TV shows, on Monday, April 3, Rai 3 broadcast the 25th edition of investigative journalistic show Report (Rai), hosted by Sigfrido Ranucci, which reached 1.6mln viewers and an 8.2% share. On Wednesday, April 5, Italia 1 aired the 2nd edition of entertainment show Back to School (produced by Blu Yazmine) - formerly hosted by Nicola Savino, the new season is led by Federica Panicucci and has recorded 1.1mln viewers and a 7.5% share. On Sunday, April 9, Rai 3 presented the tenth edition of traveling documentary Borgo dei Borghi (Rai), hosted by Camila Raznovich with a jury of geography, art, and food and wine experts: the program achieved 1.2mln viewers and a 7.5% share. On that same day, Real Time aired the season 3 of docu-reality Ti Spedisco in Convento (produced by Fremantle Italy). The  local adaptation of the format Bad Habits, Holy Orders, reached 315k viewers and an audience share of 1.8%. On Monday, April 10, NOVE broadcast the third edition of comedy show Only Fun – Comico Show (by Colorado Film), which is hosted by Italian singer Elettra Lamborghini and the comedy duo of PanPers - its premiere achieved 538k viewers and a 3.2% share. On Fridays, April 14 and 21, Rai 1 aired the second edition of Ci Vuole un Fiore (Ballandi), a variety show about sustainability hosted by Italian singer and songwriter Francesco Gabbani. Its first episode reached an audience of 2.2mln viewers, with a 13.5% share, while the second and last episode gathered 2.1mln viewers and a 13.1% share. On Monday, April 17, Canale 5 launched the 17th edition of  L’Isola dei Famosi (Banijay Italia). The reality adventure show, hosted by Ilary Blasi, achieved 2.9mln viewers and a 23.3% share, confirming it as the most watched TV program for that evening and timeslot. On Thursday, April 27, Rai 3 aired the eighth edition of Indovina Chi Viene a Cena (Rai), an investigative program focused on industrial food production and exploitation of raw materials and land. Hosted by journalist Sabrina Giannini, it gathered 766k viewers and a 3.9% share. Finally, on Friday, April 28, Rai 1 broadcast the ninth edition of variety show I Migliori Anni (Endemol Shine Italy, Rai): after a 6-year hiatus, the show hosted by Carlo Conti has returned on TV, reaching an audience of 3.4mln viewers and a 22.2% of share.
