Leading entertainment company CJ ENM announced today the exclusive premiere of the Japanese adaptation of South Korean format Exchange, called Love Transit, which will make its debut on Prime Video on Thursday, June 15.
The original format, EXchange, is a TVING Original Series featuring ex-couples who are forced to live together in the same house, sharing their daily lives while going through various dating missions to build new relationships with each other. Every participant’s ex has to conceal their identity and, at the end of each day, anonymous messages revealing each person's current love interest are delivered.
EXchange was very well received by the audience, leading the dating reality show trend in South Korea. Its first season was the most popular entertainment program on CJ ENM’s streaming service TVING in 2021, recording the highest viewing hours. The second season even managed to surpass the record-breaking success of the previous one, holding the top spot in weekly paid subscriptions for 16 consecutive weeks. Given the enthusiasm over this reality show, fans even participated in the first-ever theatre group screening event for the final episode to finally find out the matching couples, proving the so-called "EXchange syndrome."
Jangho Seo, SVP of Content Business at CJ ENM, said: “We are confident that the EXchange format will capture the hearts of the Japanese viewers. While staying true to the essence of the original format, Love Transit well incorporates elements that will appeal to the local market. We feel that Korean entertainment shows are the next big trend. They are brought to a global audience through streaming platforms like Prime Video and expanding across the world through their remakes.”
