Iberseries & Platinum Industria opens registrations to join its Training Workshops and a new Pitch Session with Secuoya Studios Stories
Iberseries & Platino Industria, the biggest Ibero-American audiovisual event out there, is once again set to train the professionals of the future with a new edition of the Showrunners Workshop, aimed at people with training and/or experience in the field of writing, directing or audiovisual production, who have a series project to be developed at the Workshop and whose main language is Spanish or Portuguese.

There are also open calls for participation in the Workshop: Legal Tools for Professional Production, aimed at audiovisual producers and people linked to the legal areas of production; and in the Virtual Production Workshop, whose goal is to teach virtual production skills in real time for the development of scripted series.

Iberseries & Platino Industria, whose third edition will be held from October 3 to 6 at Matadero Madrid, is promoted by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, with the collaboration of FIPCA. The event also opens enrolment to participate in the Pitch Session for Platforms and Production Companies with Secuoya Studios Stories, in which scripted series projects in development can register.

This unique meeting point seeks to provide visibility to feature films and series in Spanish and Portuguese, promote the talent of creators, foster international co-productions and the commercialization of content as a key formula for strengthening projects and new synergies.

SHOWRUNNERS WORKSHOP

Iberseries & Platino Industria announces the third Workshop for the training of showrunners, aimed at people with training and/or experience in the field of writing, directing or audiovisual production, who have a series project to be developed in the Workshop and whose main language is Spanish or Portuguese.

The maximum number of finalist projects will be nine, and up to two people per project may attend. The Workshop will be held on October 3, 4 and 5 and will be exclusively face-to-face. Its purpose is to provide participants with the specific, necessary skills to become showrunners, including writing, production and project management.

The selection committee for the workshop is headed by Marina Seresesky (director, screenwriter and actress) and Álvaro Lavín (producer), its coordinators. They are founders of Meridional Producciones, a Madrid-based film, television and theater company focused on producing feature films, documentaries and short films and developing TV series projects. The tutors will be Analeine Cal y Mayor, screenwriter and director of film and television; Marta Suárez, specializing in directing and screenwriting; and Carmen Jiménez, director, screenwriter and editor.

The selected projects will have four curatorial sessions before and after the workshop to correct and improve the projects, which will then be open for evaluation by the tutors during the first two weeks of November. The Showrunners Workshop will schedule a conference with a renowned professional of the audiovisual industry and participants will be able to present their project in one-on-one meetings with executives from production companies, studios and platforms.

To participate, submit your application before Thursday, June 29 at 6 p.m. (GMT+2).

WORKSHOP: LEGAL TOOLS FOR PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION

The event also opens registrations to audiovisual producers and people linked to the legal areas of production to join the Workshop: Legal Tools for Professional Production, with a limited number of 25 participants. The workshop is composed of the following subjects: Audiovisual Adaptations, Audiovisual Work in the Digital Environment, Contracting in Audiovisual Productions, EGEDA for Audiovisual Producers - Power Your Content; FIPCA - How It Works for Producers.

The training will be held exclusively in person and will take place on October 3, 4 and 5 at Matadero Madrid. It will be taught by Quetzalli de la Concha (Mexico), lawyer specializing in copyright, intellectual property and creative content; Wilson Ríos (Colombia), consultant, teacher and writer, expert in intellectual property and computer law; Fernando Fernández Aransay (Spain), expert advisor in audiovisual, publishing, literary and music companies; Vivian Alvarado (Colombia), manager of EGEDA Colombia; and Ignacio Rey (Argentina), producer and president of FIPCA.

Its purpose is to offer industry professionals legal tools in matters of audiovisual adaptations and audiovisual works in the digital environment, as well as to learn more about how EGEDA and FIPCA organizations can be great legal allies in the production of content.

The call for registration closes on Thursday, June 29, at 6 p.m. (GMT +2).

VIRTUAL PRODUCTION WORKSHOP

The call for participation in the Virtual Production Workshop is also open. Its goal is to demonstrate the possibilities of virtual production in real time for the production of scripted series.

The content will cover pre-production, production and post-production with special emphasis on color flow and productivity/cost analysis with respect to other traditional and virtual production models. There will also be a live connection with the set of MR Factory, a multimedia production company specialized in real-time virtual production and 3D scenography generation, teaching the shooting of virtual scenes and scenarios.

The workshop will take place on October 6, with the participation, among others, of Oscar Olarte Ruiz, vice president and CTO of MR Factory. It is aimed at executive producers, directors, production directors, directors of photography, production designers and screenwriters. The organization will select 50 participants.

The deadline for accredited professionals is Thursday, June 29 at 6 p.m. (GMT+2).
