Seriencamp Conference in Cologne doubled its presence of participants
After eight successful year in Munich, Seriencamp moved to Cologne doubling the presence of its participants. According to the organizers this year the most important German event (Cologne June 14-16, 2023) for the TV industry is very strong with 700 participants as confirmed by Seriencamp management trio Malko Solf, Simone Schellmann and Gerhard Maier.

On the first day, the event opened in a significantly expanded form: the grounds of the Cinenova in Cologne-Ehrenfeld with panels and conferences for the professionals and the Seriencamp Festival with its free screenings of new series that are open to everyone.

Among the conferences on the fist day on Wednesday, June 14 the case study "This is not Sweden" hosted by Victor Sala, Festival Director presented the big challenge experience of a series conceived as a coproduction between Spain (RTVE), Sweden (Anagram) and Germany (NDR). The series is a Spanish dramedy about raising children in a suburb of Barcelona, as the young couple of Mariana and Samuel – who has just moved there and wants to raise their children in contact with nature, face all the difficulties of being parents."This dark comedy that was previously presented at the Göteborg’s Festival’s TV Drama Vision with a good response - said Sala - is a good example of the great potential of European coproductions.

In the first part of popular showcase Work in Program, Thomas Luckerath, CEO and founder of DWDL.de presented three promising upcoming German tv series: Charité (season 4) produced by UFA GmbH and ARD is set in a futuristic hospital filmed and this fourth season is also the finale one after the big success of the medical drama initially set in an historical period time of Germany.
The second project is produced by Sky Studios Deutschland, UFA, Wow and it's also a dystopic series set in the island of Helgoland which became the focal point for only 513 Humans (Helgoland 513).
The third series presents is Freiheit ist das einzige was zählt (bildundtonfabrik and ZDFneo) is the latest instant fiction project by ZDF and follows a group of radical conspirator through their preparation for a coming revolution.

Seriesencamp this year introduced for the fist time the Docu-series pitch with five projects evaluted by a jury composed by Bavaria Fiction Documentaries (Emanuel Rotstein) and All3Media. The winner project Der Schulerinnen Report by Sylvia Borges was an original idea that came from the sexy feature movie of the 70s about teen first sexuality experience, but this time -said Borges - my focus is to tell the story with an ethical and feminism point of view because this is the right time.
