Unscripted Premieres June 2023: Summer season brings music events and some debuts
June was a month full of concerts and special events on the main networks of Italian linear television, but it also featured several debuts and just a few returning unscripted TV shows.

Starting with TV shows, on Sunday, June 4 Rai 3 launched Kilimangiaro Estate – Il Viaggio che Verrà (RAI), the documentary spin-off of Kilimangiaro hosted by Camila Raznovich, which gathered 879k viewers and a 5.2% share audience. On Wednesday, June 14 Real Time aired the first episode of Italian adaptation of All3Media’s factual entertainment show Sort Your Life Out – Ogni Cosa al suo Posto (FTM Entertainment), recording 228k viewers and a 1.3% share. On Thursday, June 29 Rai 1 launched Noos – L’Avventura della Conoscenza (RAI), the new documentary series created and hosted by Alberto Angela. The first episode, featuring an interview with Harrison Ford, reached 2.5mln viewers and a 17% share. On the same night, Rai 2 launched the local adaptation of drag talent show Non Sono Una Signora (Fremantle), hosted by Alba Parietti - its premiere achieved 987k viewers and a 6.6% share. Also, this month saw two returning shows: on Tuesday, June 20 NOVE aired crime docu-series Avamposti (Stand By Me), which is back with five new episodes – the first one achieved 294k viewers and a 1.8% share. On Monday, June 26 Canale 5 brought back docu-reality Temptation Island (Fascino PGT) after a one-year hiatus: the first episode gathered 3.6mln viewers and a 16.1% audience share.

As to special events, on Thursday, June 1 Rai 1 broadcast Gigi Uno Come Te – Ancora Insieme (RAI), a special music event dedicated and hosted by the songwriter himself and with many celebrity guests: it reached 3.4mln viewers with a 22.5% audience share. On Sunday, June 4 Rai 2 broadcast the special sport celebration event Sarò con Te – La Festa del Napoli (RAI), the official soccer championship ceremony for the victory of the Neapolitan team, hosted by Stefano De Martino. The event recorded 1.9mln viewers and an 11.9% audience share. On Friday, June 9 Rai 1 aired the annual charity concert Una Voce per Padre Pio (RAI), hosted by Mara Venier and with many amazing Italian artists, such as Al Bano, Patty Pravo and Ricchi e Poveri. On Sunday, June 16 Rai 1 aired Arena di Verona – 100 Anni in una Notte (RAI), the special music event held in the renowned Italian stage hosted by Milly Carlucci, reaching 1.8mln viewers and a 13.1% share. On Tuesday, June 20 Italia 1 broadcast special concert Amici – Full Out (RTI) held in Rome, featuring last year’s contestants of the popular talent show. It achieved 1.4mln viewers and a 10.1% audience share. On Saturday, June 24 Rai 1 broadcast charity music event Italia Loves Romagna (RAI), dedicated to raise funds to help the areas devastated by the recent flooding. Hosting several great Italian singers, the concert gathered 3.5mln viewers, reaching a 30.8% audience share. The following day, on Sunday, June 25 Rai 2 aired the annual concert TIM Summer Hits 2023 (RAI), hosted by Andrea Delogu and Nek, recording 2mln viewers and a 14.4% share. Lastly, on Tuesday, June 27 Italia 1 broadcast the live concert LOVE MI (RTI) held in Milan, achieved 1.7mln viewers and a 12.1% share.

Lastly, in June there was just one scripted debut: on Tuesday, June 27 Canale 5 launched the first season of drama series Una Mamma All’Improvviso (Sunshine Production, RTI, Material Pictures). In the series Claudia, portrayed by Giulia Bevilacqua, is a 35-year-old mother who awakens from a coma after 17 years. The woman resumes her life as a teenager before the coma, as if nothing has changed and time has not passed. The first part of the drama achieved 1.5mln viewers and a 9.9% share, with the second and last one airing on July 4.
