Currently celebrating its 70th Anniversary, Nippon TV will head to MIPCOM with a new scripted format, The Greatest Teacher (60 min. eps.) in which a determined teacher, rebooted back one year in time, must unveil the truth as to which student pushed her off the balcony with her life at stake, two new unscripted formats starting with Suspects on the Set (60 min. eps.), a unique mix of a scripted crime drama and an unscripted investigation battle, and 5 Friends, 5 Favours! (60 min. eps.), a new studio gameshow which features friends who battle it out to win for their celebrity friends. Rounding out the slate is the new anime title The Apothecary Diaries (30 min. eps.), based on a well-known period mystery series that has sold over 24 million copies to date. The announcement was made by Mikiko Nishiyama, Executive Vice President of Global Business at Nippon TV: “We are actively pursuing partnerships to produce original programs, aiming for series adaptation in international markets, whether scripted or unscripted. This year we are presenting 4 new titles".

The Greatest Teacher
Currently airing with rave reviews and record ratings on AVOD and SVOD and from the creators of the hit series and internationally adapted Mr. Hiiragi’s Homeroom, this series follows the story of a high school teacher who is mysteriously pushed off the school balcony after graduation ceremony. The last thing she sees is the sleeve of someone’s school uniform, but the next minute she suddenly finds herself rebooted back one year ago in her homeroom class on the first day of school---she has time lapsed. In front of her students smiling and chatting as if nothing has occurred. With 30 suspects and only a fleeting glimpse of a uniform sleeve, the rebooted and determined teacher embarks on a relentless journey to unveil the truth and make a difference this time, keeping viewers captivated in this gripping suspense drama.

Suspects on the Set
Suspects on the Set is a mystery murder gameshow with a unique mix of scripted crime drama elements. Set in a murder site, actors are summoned to play a role in a mystery drama, each given basic information about the character they play. Their mission is to investigate on the spot by improvising their characters, while one of them is playing the role of a murderer, trying to hide their real identity. They must improvise until the culprit is revealed, and there is also a cast commentary segment in the end where actors look back and reveal their intentions. Foreshadows are created by the subtle comments and actions of the actors, making it worthwhile to watch the show repeatedly.

5 Friends, 5 Favours! [in picture]
5 Friends, 5 Favours! is a studio gameshow where friends battle it out to win for their celebrity friends. Two celebrities each summon five friends, who will compete in a challenge across five different categories using their specialties and skill sets. The keys to unlocking victory lie in who they know and their rich social connections. In the heat of battle, the celebrities reveal themselves through raw emotions, overwhelming excitement, even tears of joy. Win or lose, best friends will always be there to do each other a favour. The celebrity with more friends winning the challenges is the winner.

The Apothecary Diaries
Located at the center of the continent is a superpower nation, where one young woman lives with the emperor’s wives in the inner palace. Formerly a pharmacist, obsessed with poisons and medicines who was working at the red-light district, has become a lowly servant. She learns that the emperor’s children are short-lived, and two are getting weaker by the day from illnesses. Out of curiosity, she investigates why. Not one to believe in curses, she is surprised by her findings. There is no shortage of rumors and conspiracies. Follow this extraordinary poison aficionado as she bustles around the inner palace to solve the unanswered mysteries.
