The show is a spin-off of the format The Bachelor broadcast by the channel frorm 2003 to 2005, in which a single man embarks on a romantic journey to meet 25 women with the French title « Bachelor, le gentleman célibataire » hosted by Stéphane Rotenberg and then broadcast from 2013 to 2016 by NT 1 (groupe TF 1).
This new version is dedicated to "a senior bachelor" aged from 60 to 75 year old. The Golden Bachelor will have the possibility to meet 25 and select up to 15 women. He will introduce them to his closest friends and family and visits their hometowns to meet their parents. At the end of the journey, he will have had an unforgettable experience and, quite possibly, found true love.
The format was launched by Warner Bros last MIPCOM (Cannes 16-19 October, 2023).
