TV Audience

The Italian television landscape is characterised by a bipolarity, on one hand Mediaset wins in prime-time with it’s entertainment’s offer, from You’ve Got Mail to Amici, the prime time slot is dominated by Canale 5, with the formats created by Maria De Filippi for Canale 5, while Rai 1 dominates with its great fiction. In particular, this year the main series broadcast by Rai 1 saw the dominance of female roles. Successful series like Le Indagini di Lolita Lobosco (two seasons) with Luisa Ranieri are one example of the renaissance of women in lead roles. Lolila Lobosco achieved 5.2 million viewers, followed by another leader protagonist a policewoman and the detective series Fiore Sopra l'Inferno, which recorded an average of 4.7 million viewers and 25% share. The female judge Imma Tataranni (season three) also recorded an excellent audience with 4.4 million viewers. While Lux Vide's series for the whole family, Che Dio ci aiuti 7 and its cheerful convent of nuns, consolidated as always.

The second season of Blanca, which deals with the theme of disability (the protagonist is a blind detective who helps the local police in Genoa) was excellent, followed by the long-running season of Un Passo dal cielo, a series set in the Italian Dolomites, while the new entry Blackout Vite Sospese ranks the seventh position in our ranking. Very good also performance for the Italian adaptation of the Spanish format Merlì, with the title Un Professore, masterfully interpreted by Alessandro Gasmann, who we also find in the detective series Inspector Ricciardi based on the best-selling novels by Maurizio De Giovanni.

Among the production companies that dominate the ranking we find, as every year, Lux Vide (Fremantle group) as the main producer of fiction for Rai 1.
