Nippon TV announced that two more seasons of Silent Library Suomi will premiere on the Walt Disney Company-owned Star Channel, following the successful Finnish adaptation with Rabbit Films in 2023. Rabbit Films, Finland's premier television production company, will continue to lead the acclaimed Finnish-language rendition. The initial two seasons, comprising 36 episodes, were well-received in 2023, with a fourth season planned for autumn 2024.
The show's appeal to younger audiences has led to efforts to feature youthful and dynamic personalities, including sports stars and influencers. Hosted by Riku Rantala, the versatile journalist, author, and beloved host of a prominent local documentary series, Silent Library Suomi promises to deliver more uproarious antics to Finnish audiences.
Since its international debut in 2007, Silent Library has inspired adaptations in over 20 countries worldwide, including the U.S., the U.K., Spain, the Netherlands, and more. Originating on Nippon TV in 2001, the show remains a primetime staple in Japan, conceived by the legendary Japanese comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto.
Sayako Aoki, Global Sales and Licensing, Nippon TV said:“It’s captivating to witness the evolution of this timeless Asian format into an even more uproarious program, featuring games and challenges tailored to the unique sensibilities of audiences across Europe. Our hats off to the Rabbit Films team for crafting yet another crowd-pleasing show that continues to captivate Finnish viewers.”
Quote from Olli Suominen, CEO, Rabbit Films LTD confirmed:“Silent Library is a fantastic format to produce: not only does it delight viewers with its zany humor, but it also remains a favorite among comedy writers and celebrity guests alike. Rabbit Films is honored and excited to carry on with this exceptional format!”
