MIPTV has announced that the highly anticipated Natural History event series, The Americas, featuring the debut narration on an unscripted entertainment series by acclaimed actor, producer, and writer Tom Hanks, alongside music by two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, will be previewed at the forthcoming MIPTV Spring International Television Market in Cannes (8-10 April 2024).
The session, titled "The Americas: Worldwide Preview and Fireside Chat," will be led by Toby Gorman, President of Universal Television Alternative Studio, and will feature Emmy® and BAFTA award-winning Executive Producer Mike Gunton, and Emmy-nominated Series Editor Holly Spearing. Attendees will have the opportunity to see first-look footage from the 10-part series and gain behind-the-scenes insights into the revolutionary filmmaking technology used to showcase the wonders, secrets, and fragilities of Earth's largest landmass.
"The Americas" is executive produced by Mike Gunton for BBC Studios Natural History Unit in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio. Distribution is handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution, with a premiere slated on NBC in 2025.
The session will take place at 11:00 on Tuesday, 9 April, in the Palais des Festivals.
