The recent announcement from SeriesMakers, a creative initiative spearheaded by the renowned Series Mania Forum and backed by European content giant Beta Group, unveiled the winners of its second edition. Among them are the three projects:
George Blake directed by Kevin Macdonald and produced by Femke Wolting, delves into the untold true story of George Blake, a notable double agent in British history during the Cold War era.
The Squatter, helmed by Erik Matti and produced by Ronald Monteverde, presents a gripping crime narrative set in a rural town, where a mysterious death and a fraudulent charity intertwine, revealing the complexities of its characters' identities.
Sleeping Swans, crafted by director Barbara Albert, writer Ulrike Tony Vahl, and producer Martina Haubrich, explores a coastal town's descent into chaos as children inexplicably fall into a strange condition, uncovering a sinister conspiracy along the way.
These winning projects, each awarded with significant development grants, reflect diverse narratives and creative visions. Recipients of the Beta Development Award will collaborate closely with Beta's Content Division to further develop their scripts and project packages.
Leading the SeriesMakers initiative are Laurence Herszberg, General Director of Series Mania, and Koby Gal Raday, Chief Content Officer of Beta Group.
