Vanina Guarrasi is a series based on the novels by Cristina Cassar Scalia (Sabbia Nera is the first novel) and the main protagonist is a deputy commissioner Vanina Guarrasi, who after a brilliant career in anti-mafia operations, left Palermo to escape her past and her ties to the two men she loved the most: her police officer father and her ex-boyfriend Paolo Malfitano, a prosecutor active in anti-mafia efforts.
