Unveiling 'Make the Scene!': Pula Film Festival and United Media's TV Series Workshop
Pula Film Festival and United Media have joined forces to unveil the collaborative initiative Make the Scene!.
This venture includes a call for entries to an international workshop focusing on the development of TV series scripts. The standout project stands to win a substantial prize of €10,000.

All talented authors are invited to submit their original, high-caliber TV series proposals, either independently or in partnership with production companies. These projects should captivate audiences with their contemporary storytelling prowess. Registration for the "Make the Scene!" workshop, scheduled as part of the 71st Pula Film Festival, is now open from April 2nd to April 30th, 2024.

To submit a project, please utilize the application form provided on the Festival's official website:

By early June, a pre-selection panel comprising members from the Pula Film Festival and United Media will choose the six most promising projects. These selected participants will engage in a workshop, guided by expert mentors, to refine their concepts across two modules. They will then prepare for a pitching session during the Pula Film Festival. The first module will be conducted online on July 15th and 16th, 2024, followed by the second module onsite during the festival from July 15th to 17th, 2024.

At the festival, an esteemed jury will evaluate the six projects, ultimately awarding €10,000 to the standout entry. Additionally, the winning project will enjoy the exclusive opportunity to further develop in collaboration with United Media, a leading media entity in Southeast Europe. With a portfolio spanning eight countries and boasting 40 successful projects, United Media has a track record of global adaptation and distribution.

All feature TV series, regardless of format, episode count, or genre, are eligible for submission. Projects must be presented in English, with no limit on the number of entries per applicant. The only prerequisite is that submissions must not have received prior financial backing or awards from other competitions or public invitations.
Eligible countries for submission include Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, and Austria.

Applicants must furnish the following details: a brief biography of the author or team, a logline, series and pilot episode synopses, main character profiles, season treatment, and two scenes in script format. To ensure impartial selection, applications will be reviewed anonymously under a designated code.

The 71st edition of the Pula Film Festival will grace the stage this summer from July 11th to July 18th. The iconic Arena, the majestic Istrian National Theater, and the Valli Cinema will host a stellar lineup, including the finest Croatian films, minority coproductions, the captivating Greater Adria international program featuring European and independent cinema, and the beloved PoPular Programmme, showcasing global hits with distinct artistic flair in the Arena.

The collaboration between Pula Film Festival and United Media, along with the introduction of the Make the Scene! workshop and TV series pitching event, represents a significant stride in enhancing the festival's industrial program, PulaPRO, on the global stage.
