In each episode (8x60'), Stephen Mangan welcomes 10 pairs of contestants. As they check into the luxury Caribbean resort, they are each given a briefcase. One case contains the £250,000 jackpot, eight are empty, and one contains an Early Checkout Card. Whichever
pair is holding the final case at the end of each episode is eliminated.

The Fortune Hotel is produced by creators Tuesday’s Child who also retain the rights to produce the format in the US, while Banijay Rights got the international distribution's rights of it.
