All3Media International has announced the launch of a new daily online game based on the popular TV show Catchphrase. Fans can now enjoy the challenge of “saying what they see” by visiting the official Catchphrase website at www.catchphrase.co.uk.
The online game’s launch comes just ahead of the ninth series of Celebrity Catchphrase, which premieres tomorrow (31 August) on ITV1 and STV. The first episode of the new series will feature broadcaster Fern Britton, singer and presenter Kéllé Bryan, and Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt. The show, produced by STV Studios, continues to entertain audiences with long-time host Stephen Mulhern guiding contestants to identify the correct catchphrases from a series of animated puzzles featuring the iconic Mr. Chips.
Stephen Mulhern confirmed: ”for many years, fans have loved playing the Catchphrase board game at home with their friends and families. Now with the launch of the Catchphrase website, fans can test their Catchphrase skills against players all over the country!”
The online game was developed by Two Way Media, the creative team behind the successful Catchphrase and Lingo mobile apps. The Catchphrase app, available for free on both Apple and Android devices, has seen more than 54 million catchphrases solved to date.
Beyond the digital realm, Catchphrase board and card games have long been a staple in UK households, maintaining their popularity over the years. On television, Catchphrase has been a beloved family show for nearly 40 years, with Stephen Mulhern now holding the record as the longest-serving host of the format. Originally created in the US by Pasetta Productions Inc. and Steven Radosh, Catchphrase has been produced in nine countries, including Australia, Vietnam, Italy, and Poland.
