Could The Queen of Taste Become a TV Show?
The eighth edition of The Queen of Taste concluded with resounding success, showcasing the best of mountain cuisine in the breathtaking Dolomites on September 7 and 8. Organized by Chef Team Cortina and Cortina For Us, the sold-out event drew over 500 food enthusiasts, featuring top chefs and rising culinary stars.

The sensory weekend experience offered a rich array of events, including tastings, itinerant dinners, and discussions that highlighted Ampezzo's culinary traditions. "This edition exceeded all expectations. Cortina reaffirms its position as a premier destination for quality gastronomy," said Gianluca Lorenzi, Mayor of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

One of the most anticipated moments was the StrEat Chef dinner, a culinary journey through five of Cortina's top restaurants: Baita Fraina, Chalet Tofane, Al Camin, Lago Scin, and Pasticceria Alverà. Each restaurant offered three dishes for tasting, while the pastry shop presented two desserts, all prepared by local chefs Luca Menardi, Luigi Dariz, Luigino Anzanello, Federico Rovacchi, Carlo Festini, Fabio Pompanin, Graziano Prest, Nicola Bellodis, and pastry chef Massimo Alverà, joined by guest chefs: Valentino Cecconi, Denis Begiqi, Alessandro Favrin, Marco and Claudio Mandara, and pastry chef Sandro Maritani. Participants enjoyed local specialties paired with fine wines served by over 40 wine experts in the various locations, all in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere, appreciating not only the quality of the dishes but also the beauty of the Dolomites. The event delighted the 160 attendees with a fusion of tradition and innovation. Another standout was the Breakfast in the Mountains at Rifugio Col Drusciè, offering a gourmet meal prepared by chefs from Alma Culinary School, amidst the stunning Dolomite peaks.

The grand finale with the StrEat Lunch concluded the event, with a gala in Cortina’s Piazza Angelo Dibona, where 120 guests savored creative dishes by renowned chefs like Marisa Maffeo and Claudio Sadler. Each plate was a tribute to local flavors with a modern twist, closing the event in style.

Given the success of the 2024 edition, The Queen of Taste could potentially evolve into a TV show, bringing Cortina's culinary heritage to an even wider audience. With preparations for the 2025 edition already underway, organizers are confident that the festival’s future is bright. Cortina continues to cement its status as a global hub for mountain cuisine excellence.
