Rai 1 thriller series Brennero, known internationally as Pale Mountains (8x1hour) is going global: the gripping drama, set in Bolzano (South Tyrol), has been sold to the U.S., Canada, the UK and Ireland for GSN, as well as to Turkey, while also widely captivating Italian audiences this past month.
The series achieved 2.8 million viewers for the first two episodes, beating strong competition such as Big Brother. The release of the third and fourth episodes attracted even more viewers, pushing the audience to 3 million. This week, the final two episodes achieved 2.7million viewers with an audience share of 16.2% winning the prime time slot.
Pale Mountains delves into the tensions between the German-speaking and Italian communities as a notorious serial killer resurfaces. Years ago, Inspector Paolo was injured trying to catch the killer, losing his leg and his girlfriend. Now obsessed, he teams up with Eva, a German-speaking assistant prosecutor. They must act quickly, knowing that the monster will strike again.
The series is directed by Davide Marengo and Giuseppe Bonito and stars Elena Radonicich, Matteo Martari, and Richard Sammel. Pale Mountains is produced by RAI Fiction and Beta Film subsidiary Cross Productions, supported by IDM, and in association with Beta Film.
