Esperanza Garay CEO of MGE adds the film documentary Salvaje to her catalogue of series and telenovelas.
Salvaje, directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Mantilla, explores the life and legacy of celebrated writer Roberto Bolaño. Structured similarly to Bolaño’s acclaimed novel The Savage Detectives, this documentary delves into his world through interviews with figures who inspired his works. The film is a collaboration between Chilean production companies La Merced Producciones, Zapatilla Films, and international company TwentyFour-Seven, with MGE handling global distribution.
Filmed across iconic locations such as New York, Barcelona, and Blanes, and currently expanding to Mexico and France, Salvaje offers a profound look into Bolaño’s life, from his public literary achievements to his private moments. Notable interviews include friends and collaborators who influenced his work, with stop-motion animation adding a poetic touch to key life events.
Producer Patricio Ochoa describes Salvaje as more than a documentary; it’s a journey into Bolaño's literary universe. With Bolaño’s work resonating across various fields, from politics to the arts, this documentary aims to engage both his fans and new audiences interested in his impact on contemporary culture.
