Launched at MIPTV 2024 by Studio 89 and Dreamspark, instant hit format The Power is rolling out in 18 countries. The daily format premiered on French commercial broadcaster W9 on April 1st and was the most successful launch of a new format in its time slot since 2022. Viewership improved on the slot average by 50% increase making this one of the channel's mostwatched reality shows and was renewed for Season 2 within the second week of broadcast.

Now the format has been commissioned in 5 additional countries for 2025 launch; in Germany by ProSiebenSat.1 and Joyn, Hungary by RTL Hungary, Greece by Skai TV and in Mexico and Romania, channels to be announced, however both versions to be produced by Acun Medya.

NBCUniversal has acquired the rights in the US, UK and Australia for development. The format rights have also been granted in Belgium and the Netherlands to Vincent TV and Spain, Portugal and Italy to Fremantle and the Nordics (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) to Banijay Nordics. Created by Dreamspark and Studio 89, this strategy game centers on one critical question: Who holds the power? The Second season of The Power is now in production. In The Power, each week a celebrity player secretly gains control over the house and the lives of the other occupants, becoming the ‘power player.’ This individual decides where others sleep, what they eat, who enjoys certain privileges, who faces challenges and who suffers disadvantages in the game. This player must hide their identity to stay in the competition. At the end of each week, they can choose a target, a contestant who is up for elimination. The targeted contestant’s only chance to stay is by identifying the ‘power player,’ who must leave if exposed.
