The 4-episode series Il Conte di Montecristo, inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ novel and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bille August, tells a gripping story of betrayal, vengeance, and redemption set in 19th-century Europe. Produced by Palomar in collaboration with international partners such as DEMD Productions, Rai Fiction, and France Télévisions, it is an ambitious international project meticulously crafted by producers Carlo Degli Esposti, Nicola Serra, and Max Gusberti. The plot follows Edmond Dantès, a young sailor who becomes the victim of a conspiracy orchestrated by Gérard Villefort, Danglars, and Fernand, who falsely accuse him of being a Bonapartist conspirator. Imprisoned in the Château d’If, Edmond endures years of suffering until he meets Abbé Faria, played by Jeremy Irons, who helps him escape and reveals the existence of a hidden treasure. Armed with newfound wealth and knowledge, Edmond transforms into the enigmatic Count of Monte Cristo, determined to exact relentless revenge on his betrayers, declaring: "My revenge will match their crime."

Docu-reality Boss in Incognito and talk show Lo Stato delle Cose are back on Rai 2 and Rai 3 after the holiday break.
