The battle of the telenovelas has just begun in Italy!
The new Colombian series La Ley del Corazón (italian title: Le Leggi del cuore) produced by RCN Studios and distributed by Italy’s Tunnel Produzione, fails to take off on Rai 2.

Launched on Monday, January 13, in the early evening slot, replacing the military police procedural series NCIS, the show struggled to debut, drawing only 334,000 viewers with a 1.8% share. The numbers remained low on Tuesday, January 14, with 347,000 viewers and a 1.9% share. On Wednesday, January 15 was even lower with 290.000 viewers and only 1.6% share. On Thursday, January 16 it recorded 273,000 viewers (1.64% of share) in the first episode and 295,000 viewers (1.51%) in the second. In contrast, NCIS had garnered an average of 3.6% audience share in the same slot just a week earlier. Meanwhile, on Rete 4, the Spanish telenovela La Promesa attracted a far larger audience of 908,000 viewers with a 4.5% share.

The legal series has already been highlighted by major news agencies as one of the must-see television events of the coming year,  and has been sold by Estudios RCN  in more than 20 countries worldwide. It stars Luciano D'Alessandro, Laura Londoño, and Sebastián Martínez, directed by Victor Mallarino and Sergio Osorio. The criminal or family cases presented in the series are based on real life and advance simultaneously to the central love story between Julia Escallón and Pablo Domínguez, two experts lawyers in family law who are brought together by chance when he just signed his divorce and she is about to get married.
