Sky Classica Returns to the Sky Channel Bouquet
Starting February 1st, Classica HD will transform into Sky Classica, joining the prestigious Sky-branded channels lineup. This evolution strengthens Sky’s cultural and artistic offerings alongside Sky Arte and Sky Documentaries. The channel will occupy position 124 on Sky and 125 on Sky Stream and Sky Glass, with a selection of content also available on-demand.

Sky Classica, produced by Italia Classica, caters to both seasoned classical music enthusiasts and newcomers. Subscribers will enjoy symphonies from iconic venues, profiles of legendary and emerging artists, ballet classics, modern dance performances, chamber music, contemporary compositions, and insightful documentaries.

Original programming includes "Almanacco di Bellezza", a daily cultural magazine hosted by Piero Maranghi and Leonardo Piccinini, and "O Mestiere Teatro", offering interviews with global classical music professionals, from musicians to behind-the-scenes experts. The channel also promises over 150 hours of exclusive content annually, thanks to partnerships with major European theaters and festivals.

Roberto Pisoni, Director of Entertainment Channels at Sky Italia, stated:"we are thrilled to launch Sky Classica, a new cultural touchstone for our subscribers that complements Sky Arte and Sky Documentaries, enriching our artistic portfolio."

Piero Maranghi, Sky Classica’s Director, added:"this is a milestone for classical music lovers, reflecting over 20 years of collaboration with Sky. Our goal remains delivering exceptional quality productions and content from the global music scene."

To celebrate the launch, on February 1st at 9:15 PM, Sky Classica will broadcast Puccini's La Bohème in Franco Zeffirelli’s renowned production, marking the anniversary of its 1891 premiere in Turin. The evening continues with a documentary on Zeffirelli's groundbreaking work.

February programming highlights include two events featuring Maestro Riccardo Muti:

February 3rd: Donizetti’s Don Pasquale in concert at the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza.
February 27th: A masterclass on Verdi’s La Traviata from the Italian Opera Academy.
Starting February 14th, the channel premieres a 10-episode series, "Almanacco di Bellezza in viaggio con Kel 12", exploring Ancient Egypt’s rich heritage. A special February 23rd episode will spotlight the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence, unveiling its artistic treasures.
