Last Saturday, Belgium welcomed the third edition of the Kastaars! awards, where The Political Assembly (locally known as Het Conclaaf) received the prestigious Impact Award 2024. Presented by the jury, this award celebrates a production that exemplifies creativity, quality, and innovation within Flemish media, recognizing acts of courage, boldness, and bravery in shaping the media landscape of Flanders.

The format was conceived and produced by Bargoens, the company led by renowned TV creator Eric Goens. Its first season was a resounding success on VTM in Belgium, achieving an impressive average market share of nearly 50% (18-44, consolidated) during the pre-election period. Distributed by Be-Entertainment, the format has already expanded beyond Belgium’s borders, with confirmed commissions in both the Netherlands and Denmark.

The Political Assembly is the first-ever reality series to feature real politicians, offering an unprecedented glimpse into their world. Set over a weekend in a castle, the show creates an environment for group debates, one-on-one duels, and candid personal confessions. Stripped of spin doctors' influence, it reveals politicians not only as professionals but also as relatable individuals, exposing their true character through raw and authentic discussions.
