NEM 2018, the biggest TV industry gathering in the CEE region, will take place from 11th – 14th of June for the sixth year in a row in amazing Dubrovnik. With only several months left until the official opening of the event, NEM is gradually revealing details of its rich programme prepared for 2018.
This year's New Europe Market (NEM) event will host seven panel discussions with esteemed, highly-relevant speakers and key players from TV industry, as well as useful and ever interesting case studies and presentations. Recognizable and irreplaceable elements of NEM, the private screening room and market area, have experienced upgrades in their size and look. The private screening room will be focused not only on world production, but on local production, too. In this way, NEM will put a stronger emphasis on content which has, over the past few years, undergone great changes considering how audiences view television.
The significance NEM 2018 has for its attendees is borne out by Anette Schaefer, Vice President of TV Business Europe for Deutsche Telekom AG: "NEM is the key marketplace in the CEE region for international programming. NEM not only connects content sellers & buyers, it is the event for TV industry key decision makers to explore new business models and latest entertainment trends.“
SOMEWHAT CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS?
Just like the private screening room, some of the panel discussions will focus on international and local production and its relevance for attracting and keeping viewers. NEM 2018 also tackles the question of ever-growing digitalization and accompanied content. Furthermore, there is the question of advertising and how to strike a balance between profit and viewer satisfaction.
Something new, but certainly controversial, is a discussion about the problems of piracy in the CEE region and in general and how this unwanted situation can be turned for the better. On the eve of the football World Cup, NEM will tackle the question of the steeply rising cost of sports TV rights. Last, but not the least is the panel about children user experience in terms of technology.
Founder of NEM, Sanja Božić-Ljubičić, revealed what we can expect from this year's edition of this event and its panel topics:"Every year Mediavision organizes NEM trying to be two steps ahead of the game we play and the business we love the most, the media. NEM is proud to bring together the most important players in the CEE region, but also the world, in order for us all to learn from our own experiences and mistakes.
We do it year after year. We obviously must be doing it right, because we all keep coming for more!
Welcome to NEM 2018!“
