Russian Remake of NBCUniversal International Formats’ House to Return for Season Two on Rossiya 1
Following the ratings success of season one, Russia’s leading public broadcaster, Rossiya 1 has recommissioned a local version of NBCUniversal International Formats’ award-winning drama, House M.D. for a second season.
Doctor Richter is the first adaptation of the Emmy award-winning original US series produced by Universal Television for Fox Network, which starred Hugh Laurie and ran for eight seasons. Launching in November 2017, the Russian remake grew from an average 3.1m viewers across its Monday to Thursday primetime slots in its first week, to 3.5m in its third and final week. The series became the number one show in its timeslot – a 15% uplift on the average and an increase of 52% amongst 18-49 adults. It also increased the channel’s demographic of females aged 18-49 by 85%.
Rossiya 1 has ordered another 16 episodes for season two, which will be produced again by Non-Stop Productions.
Renowned actor Aleksei Serebryakov (McMafia, Leviathan) will return to lead the cast as Dr. Andrei Richter and filming will commence this month.
