BBC Studios has licensed the Mastermind format to Khabar Agency, which will produce 21 episodes to air on the Khabar channel later this year in Kazakhstan.

As in the U.K. version, Kazakhstanis will compete to win the honor of being crowned “Mastermind” as they take to the black chair to be tested on their specialist subject and general knowledge. Mastermind has previously sold to nine territories, including Australia, Ireland and Russia.

Sumi Connock, creative director of formats at BBC Studios, commented: “We’re thrilled that a huge heritage brand like Mastermind, which has been on air in the U.K. for over 40 years is still being welcomed into new territories. We also have a great lineup of brand-new factual entertainment formats this MIPCOM and of course, an exciting addition to the Dancing with the Stars family with the ray of sunshine that is Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.”
