Drama, children’s programming and documentaries: all pillars of ZDF Enterprises’ distribution portfolio produced great sales successes at the MIPCOM media fair in Cannes, both in current trade fair highlights and in titles from the back catalog.
In the ZDFE.drama division, the presentations of the new series ‘Kristina Ohlsson’s Sthlm Requiem’ and ‘Over Water’ in the presence of cast and crew attracted the attention of the expert audience. The strong collaboration with Finnish broadcaster YLE is set to continue with a package of almost 100 hours of drama series such as ‘The Criminalist’, ‘The Prosecutor’, ‘The Old Fox’, ‘Cologne P.D.’ and ‘Disappeared - The M.P.U.’. Swiss Television SRF licensed almost 200 hours of TV movies and series, including ‘Arne Dahl, ‘Beck’, ‘Betty's Call’, ‘Mountain Medic’ und ‘The Inspector and the Sea’. Entertainment Networks UK secured 50 romantic TV movies from the popular collections Rosamunde Pilcher, Inga Lindstroem und Emilie Ricards for Cine Sony Italy.
Sales were also posted in the MIPCOM highlights for the factual division of ZDFE.unscripted and many more are in final negotiation: Viasat World acquired the Pay TV rights of ‘The Fatal Conflict - Judea and Rome’ and ‘A Day in the Life of Earth’ for Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and African territories. Telefonica Spain also secured the rights of ‘A Day in the Life of Earth’ for their territories.
ZDFE.junior is pleased to announce the sale of the new live action series ‘The Bureau of Magical Things” to Nickelodeon for their worldwide service and ‘Find me in Paris” to Nickelodeon UK. Ceska Televize acquired a program package of about 160 hours of animation and live action, including titles such as ‘School of Roars’, ‘Q Pootle 5’, ‘Mister Twister’, ‘Knight Rusty’ and ‘Lassie’. Clients in the German-speaking territories bought the DVD rights to programs such as ‘Belle & Sebastian’, ‘Ziggy and the Zootram’, ‘School of Roars’ and ‘Inui’ as well as the Pay TV right of ‘School of Roars’, ‘Peter Pan’ and various other shows.
