Global content company Keshet International (KI) announces its selected slate of content for MIPTV 2019. The varied line-up features a wealth of finished tape programming and formats, including eight fresh entertainment and factual series, three new Russian dramas, and returning seasons of six popular KI shows.
Headlining KI’s entertainment slate is brand new reality format 2025, where social currency and transparency are the key to success. Set in a near-future city run by six humanoid hosts, Keshet Broadcasting’s landmark new 24x60’/90’ series embroils contestants in a unique game of strategy where status, options, and fate are all determined by the social currency they manage to obtain. The series is currently premiering on Keshet 12 in Israel at the moment.
KI’s next unscripted highlight is Crackit Productions’ primetime format The Great Gardening Challenge. Available as both 6x75’ finished tape and format, this fresh competition show follows the country's best and most interesting garden designers as they battle it out to create the most unique and original public gardens in a 48-hour deadline and on a budget. The prime time series originally commissioned for Channel 5 saw British designers take under-used and under-loved outside spaces and transform the lives of truly deserving recipients – from war veterans to care homes for the disabled, hospitals to dementia sufferers.
Two new formats from Tuesday’s Child also feature on KI’s MIPTV slate of non-scripted titles. The Hit List is a sing-along 60’ game show format that sees pairs of contestants competing to be the first to guess the name and artist of well-known songs that is currently in production for BBC One. While The Joint is a fixed-rig relationship format that explores what happens when ordinary people, all with a conflict to solve, sit down and use marijuana as the ice breaker. This 2x45’ series for Channel 4 is also available as finished tape.
Other highlights includes Around the World by Train, a 6x45’ series produced by Rumpus Media & Motion Content Group for Channel 5, in which Sir Tony Robinson takes a whirlwind journey around the globe, jumping on and off trains across Europe, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Australia and finally the USA.
Flicker Productions’ documentary 4x45’ series for Channel 5, Prison Girls: Life Inside, gives a raw, intimate and in-depth look into the extreme lives of women incarcerated in an American jail as they balance love and family with violence and a life of crime.
Filled with adventure is Hello Halo’s River Hunters for AETV (History) – available as 8x40’ finished tape and format – which follows US Youtube sensation Beau Ouimette and keen swimmer Rick Edwards on their archaeological quest to uncover the secrets lying beneath the surface of Britain’s waterways.
While Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing from Owl Power sees comedians and friends Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse cast off for a humorous cross-country fishing trip around the UK’s most stunning beauty spots. Originally commissioned by BBC Two as 6x30’, a second series is on order.
Top Hat Productions’ Busing is inspired by social engineering experiments from the ’60s where pupils from an all-white school are exchanged with those from an all-Asian school to overcome social and cultural divides. Originally commissioned by Channel 4, this series is available as 3x50’ finished tape and format.
Spencer and Vogue and Baby Too, a 3x50’ co-pro from Rumpus Media & Money Management for E4, sees Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews and model Vogue Williams embrace the life-changing challenges of first-time parenthood in this brand new fun, emotional and engaging celebrity reality show.
Rounding off KI’s non-scripted slate of finished tape content is a fourth series of Woodcut Media’s World’s Most Evil Killers (20x45’), alongside the second series of Koda Communications’ powerful docu-reality series Crime Unit: JLM (9x50’) and follow-up series of three popular shows from Crackit Productions:
• Greatest Celebrity Wind Ups Ever! (6x22’) is the celebrity practical joke show with first-hand accounts from the brains behind the pranks and the unfortunate stars at the receiving end.
• Trucking Hell (20x50’) follows heavy rescue company Crouch Recovery risk life and limb to perform extreme rescue missions and keep Britain’s roads moving.
• Fly-on-the-wall docu-series Casualty 24/7 (12x45’) invites you to join the medical team for a shift in the ER to discover what's really going on in the hearts and minds of those who care for over 2,000 patients every week.
Heading KI’s scripted slate are three new Russian dramas from NTV. Crime thriller The Crow (12x50’) follows Anna, a brilliant yet complex detective who realizes too late that a murder happened on her watch. Now, she will stop at nothing to find the killer in this gripping and atmospheric investigative drama.
