Armoza Formats has now unveiled its new slate for MIPTV with three new Israeli scripted series, and two new formats also originating from Israeli creators, signifying a majority-scripted lineup for the content developer and distributor.
Produced by Drama Team and aired on Israel’s Kan, Muna (8 x 30’) follows the story of a successful and free-spirited Arab-Israeli photographer who has made a life for herself in Tel Aviv, far from the Arab village in which she grew up. When she is chosen to represent Israel at a prestigious international photography exhibition, her traditional father sees this as a betrayal of her people and of her roots. Set in a time of war, when violence and conflict forces everyone to pick sides, Muna must choose with whom her true loyalties lie. As all her relationships fall apart and both Israeli and Arab societies turn against her, will she choose to honor her heritage or follow her heart? The series was written by Palestinian-Israeli singer Mira Awad, inspired by her own story as the only Palestinian to have represented Israel at the Eurovision.
Red Lines (13 x 60’) is the new legal thriller from Israel’s Kan and Tedy Productions that takes viewers into the complex world of the District Attorney’s office. Up-and-coming attorney Marcelle Ben-David believes in justice above all else, even the law. After convicting the head of a major crime family, she is given a promotion to the D.A’s office, but when she begins working on her first assignment and uncovers a massive conspiracy, Marcelle’s disregard for the rules of the D.A.’s rigid hierarchy opens a Pandora’s Box that threatens to shake the entire country. Marcelle will do whatever it takes to bring justice to those involved - no matter the cost. But when she finds out that those behind it are the ones closest to her, can she stop it all before she crosses too many red lines?
My Life in 60 Seconds (18x30’) is the hilarious comedy from Israel’s Reshet and Tedy Productions that follows the life of Zvika Hadar, the real-life famed comedian who has lost his job hosting a prime time TV show after 12 seasons. Unemployed and with 7 kids at home, he can just never get a minute to himself, no matter how hard he tries! Through 60-second scenes, timed by a small clock in the corner, we see the hilarious and dramatic twists that this new lifestyle takes him on. Each scene will cut at the moment that the timer runs out - even if it is in the middle of a sentence or word - and as the episode goes on, the laughs will escalate by the minute.
From Armoza’s non-scripted offering comes The Conflict (60’), a first-of-its-kind social experiment from Eran B.Y and AIM Marketing, that gives individuals the chance to see their dispute from a new point of view. For years, they have been unwilling to meet but now they will finally come “face-to-face”. Two well-known actors will represent each side of the story, having met with their real-life counterparts to learn how to truly embody them on stage. They will bring the conflict to life through an enactment that simulates a pivotal moment in the relationship, while the real conflicted parties watch from the sidelines. Will this new perspective be persuasive enough to make them put their anger aside and finally meet?
Mind-Blowing (30’), the factual entertainment series from Art Media, follows master mentalist Nimrod Harel as he takes viewers on a journey inside his mind and provides a rare glimpse behind the curtains of the supernatural world. For the first time on television, age-old secrets are revealed through the eyes of the celebrity illusionist himself. Shot with special camera glasses, Mind Blowing enables viewers to watch incredible feats from the perspective of the mentalist himself, finally understanding the covert techniques that influence our subconscious and help him “read” our minds. Shot in one take and with no special effects, this is the only mentalism and magic show in the world in which the viewers can truly believe what they see, in a mind-blowing and magical experience.
Avi Armoza, CEO of Armoza Formats, “Due to the increase in the demand for high-quality scripted series, as well as the worldwide success of Israeli dramas, we have chosen to come to MIPTV with a focus on our scripted catalogue.
