MTV in the UK has commissioned a dating show in which the friends of a single person are tasked with taking control of their love life.

Love Squad (30×22’) is being produced for the pay TV channel by Workerbee, an Endemol Shine UK company. Filming will begin this month ahead of a debut laters this year.

In each episode, a singleton’s friends and family will select three different dates from a pool of potential matches. All three dates will take place over the course of one evening, with the show’s subject then choosing who they would like to see again and finding out whether that person feels the same way.

“Viewers can expect plenty of excitement throughout as we hand over total control to a group of friends – after all, who better to choose your perfect match than the people who know you best?” said Craig Orr, VP of commissioning and development at MTV International.

Love Squad will be executive produced by Sean Murphy.
