"MIPCOM closed with some 13,500 registered participants from 111 countries" - announced Laurine Garaude, director of Reed Midem television division during the traditional press conference held in Cannes on Wednesday morning.
“It’s an exciting time for the industry and for MIPCOM and MIPJunior” - said as the show opened on Monday.
Garaude said that 1,500 delegates took part in MIPJunior, with 1,300 programs and projects in the screening library and 600 buyers on site. Pikwik Pack and Heirs of the Night received World Premiere TV Screenings over the weekend.
MIPCOM featured 60-plus new exhibitors, Garaude said, for a total of more than 2,000 exhibiting companies. There were more than 4,700 buyers in attendance, of which 1,800 hail from digital platforms.
The event featured keynotes from Personality of the Year Robert Greenblatt, showrunner and screenwriter Jed Mercurio, Amazon’s James Farrell, Newen’s Bibiane Godfroid and ProSiebenSat.1’s Max Conze, among others. The conference program was themed “The Streaming Offensive.”
“Content has never been more in-demand, from around the world,” Garaude noted. “The business is becoming even more international than it was. In this complex environment, meeting face to face is absolutely essential. In this complex and changing environment, MIPCOM continues to confirm its importance to the industry.”
