Yesterday, in a press conference JP Bommel announced the election of EVP of Revenue Strategy & Innovation for NBCUTelemundo Enterprises, Peter Blacker; President of Viacom Digital Studios, Kelly Day; Managing Partner of MAG (Meridian Advisory Group), Shahid Khan; CEO of all3media International, Louise Pedersen; and CEO of Verance, Nil Shah, to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. The new board members were jointly announced by Andy Kaplan, NATPE Chairman of the Board, and JP Bommel, President and CEO of NATPE. Each new appointee will serve a term of three years.
“Our board is stronger than ever now that these important voices have been added to the content conversation that is central to our organization,” said Kaplan. “This upcoming year is set to be one of the most important in media and the worlds in which NATPE lives are intersecting like never before.”
The five global leaders joining NATPE’s board demonstrate a wide variety of direct and relevant experience within the current evolution of the content marketplace, and will bring a dynamic perspective to an already strong board that is shaping the focus of NATPE’s flagship event – NATPE Miami – scheduled for January 21-23, 2020 at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami, Florida.
Blacker is responsible for the revenue strategy of Telemundo Enterprises’ domestic and international businesses. He works across linear, digital and mobile platforms to amplify existing revenue streams and develop new businesses in the US and abroad. Day oversees Viacom’s digital content strategy and initiatives to create and expand original programming and branded content across the leading and emerging social platforms for Viacom’s portfolio of global entertainment brands. Khan is an acclaimed digital thought leader and entrepreneur, who founded two award-winning companies, the global management consulting firm, MAG, and the Content Value Management platform, Mediamorph (recently sold). Pedersen leads all3media International, which works with television producers to co-finance television programs and is a leading global TV sales business. Shah leads Verance, an inventor of next generation movie, music and television technologies that set the industry standard for content measurement, enhancement and protection. He recently led the company through a major expansion from film into television.
“Given the current market dynamics, the NATPE board is emboldened by the addition of five leaders in their respective fields. They have first-hand experience of the profound industry disruption taking place today, and have demonstrated excellence in adapting quickly to these changes” said Bommel. “Their wisdom and confidence will continue to shape NATPE as the leading global content association.”
