The Masked Singer premiered with 4.4 million viewers on Rai 1
After the worldwide success, The Masked Singer finally arrived in Italy!
The Italian edition of the music game show The Masked Singer, renamed Il Cantante Mascherato (4 episodes) hosted by Milly Carlucci and produced by Endemol Shine Italy, premiered on Rai1 on Friday, January 10 at 9.30pm. The format is based on the American edition of The Masked Singer, inspired by the South Korean singing competition program King of Mask Singer, conceived by MBC Entertainment. The show kick off was brilliant with  4.437.000 viewers and an audience share of 20.85% winning the Friday night slot. The program also has gained 12 million contacts. In the same slot competitor Canale5 broadcasted the 2nd episode of reality show GFVIP (Grande Fratello Vip 4) that scored 2.922.000 viewers and an audience share of 16.76%. IOn Friday night,  Endemol Shine Italia was leader with two hit shows broadcasting  simultaneously.

The format turns around the identity of 8 famous people who will be revealed over the course of the game. Viewers and the five judges (Patty Pravo, Ilenia Pastorelli, Flavio Insinna, Guillermo Mariotto and Francesco Facchinetti) have the task of evaluating the singing performances of the competitors, hidden behind the clothes and the masks of the Mastino Napoletano, Leone, Coniglio, Mostro, Angelo, Unicorno, Barboncino and Pavone. At the end of each episode, whoever gets the lowest score is eliminated from the race and it have to remove the mask, revealing to everyone who he is. Both viewers and judges have to guess which VIPs are behind the costumes. During the episodes, in fact, in addition to the voice of the singer, each VIP reveals some details of his timbre or his gestures, while the host provides useful clues to destabilize the search for the eight profiles. They are top secret and known only to very few people who works on the show: to be able to shoot inside the studios during rehearsals, or upon their arrival, competitors wear a full-face helmet and a black cape. “Non parlarmi” (don't talk to me) appears on their dark clothes.

The Masked Singer was a great success all over the world,  it achieved 5.5 million and  an audience share of 30% in UK on ITV, 6.6 million and 32.5% in France on Tf1, 2.2 million and 9.4% in Germany on ProSieben, 9.4 million and 12% share in the US on Fox. It will soon debut in Spain on Antena 3.
