This edition will sees the host Francesco Panella looking for real Italian food from North to Central America (Hollywood, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Dallas, Queens, San Diego, Panama, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, Cartagena, New York). It will rely on Italians living abroad to find restaurants that deserve the title of "Little Big Italy".
In each city Francesco will meet 3 Italians abroad, competitors of the challenge, who will take him to eat in their favourite restaurant, where they can find the flavor of home. With a challenge, they will taste and vote for 3 categories: the choice of the expat, the chef's main course and an off-menu chosen by Francesco. At the end of each meal there will be votes, from 1 to 5 tokens for each dish, and Francesco will contribute to the final result with one more vote, the one dedicated to "Being Italian" that will make the difference in the proclamation of the winner. Up for the expat a bonus card valid for one year to eat for free in his favorite restaurant!
In this edition of the original Banijay Italia format, there will be something new: in the "Italians love it" segment, the public from home will have a mini-guide made by expats on what to do, see or eat in the city.
Little Big Italy (12x60') produced by Banijay Italia for Discovery, is written by Magda Geronimo, Veronica Pennacchio, Valentina Monti, Simone Rossi, Emanuele Morelli. Directed by Bennet Pimpinella.
