On Thursday 30 January in Milan was signed an agreement between the University and Rai Teche aimed at making available to students, researchers and the entire academic community access to the digital archives of the national public radio and television service, through the Teche Rai Multimedia Catalog.
The event was attended by Franco Anelli, rector of the Catholic University, Maria Pia Ammirati, director of Rai Teche, Marianna Sala, president of Corecom Lombardia, Mario Gatti, director of the Milan office of the Catholic University, Aldo Grasso and Massimo Scaglioni, respectively teachers of History and Criticism of Television and of History and Economics of Media at the Catholic University.
Thanks to the support of the University Library, the agreement will allow access to over 70 million documents, which include radio and television programs, news programs, photographs, scripts, scripts and schedules.
"This is an important cultural and strategic value for the Catholic University ", explained Professor Massimo Scaglioni. «It is part of a tradition that has seen the University developing a pioneering contribution in the studies on media and mass communications which started in the 1960s with the birth of the High School in journalism and audiovisual media, then School of specialization in Social Communications. Furthermore, the convention confirms the attention and sensitivity of our university towards those sources, such as multimedia and digital archives, which allow a detailed and complete reconstruction of our past and our being a community, an extraordinary field of research, discovery and opportunity for reflection for the new generations of students and for researchers who move in the field of media studies. At the same time it reaffirms the central role of the historical relations in this area between Catholic University and Rai, also through the activity carried out by CeRTA - Research Center on Television and Audiovisuals, for over a decade active in research on television and audiovisuals » .
