Today, ITV Studios welcomed buyers to its eighth annual Formats Festival at London’s iconic Roundhouse venue, with brand new entertainment, reality, game show and quiz formats presented alongside some of its mega hits such as The Voice and Love Island, at its biggest formats event yet.
For the first time since ITV Studios’ restructure, over 200 buyers learnt more about its newly-combined catalogue, which will represent Talpa Media, Israeli formats creator Armoza Formats, Twofour and the existing ITV Studios unscripted format catalogue. Newly commissioned shows and development ideas from across the group were presented, including from Possessed, 12 Yard, Potato and Armoza.
Attendees heard about a variety of innovative new formats across the morning, from green-lit shows including 12 Yard’s Comedians Giving Lectures, which is returning for two more series on UKTV’s Dave channel in the UK, and Potato’s Beat The Chasers, to recently launched formats such as Armoza’s Queens of Love and an early look at exciting new launches for later in 2020.
These new shows join ITV Studios’ growing slate of huge international hit formats, which include some of the best-known brands out there; The Voice, the most successful format of the last decade now commissioned in 70 territories worldwide, the award-winning, record-breaking Love Island, now in 15 territories from the U.S. to Australia and across Europe, The Chase, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year and was most recently commissioned in Spain, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, returning for its 20th series in the UK later this year and Come Dine With Me, the award-winning evergreen format which has been produced locally in over 40 territories across the globe.
Following the reorganisation of ITV Studios' international and commercial division, Global Entertainment, which is headed up by Meijs and has its Headquarters in the Netherlands, brings together international unscripted format sales and exploitation across the group under one roof. Meijs’ team are known for their expertise in managing shows which attract large audiences with significant global commercial potential and monetize content, through a number of different ways, including brand licensing, merchandising, commercial integration and digital and social activity.
