Netflix has acquired global rights of Love on the Spectrum, an ABC-commissioned dating reality show that follows individuals who are on the autism spectrum and showcases their dating experience. Arriving on July 22, the show is all about love and the fact that autism doesn’t discriminate.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’re on the spectrum or not, everyone has a basic human right and a basic human need of connection and love,” says Jodi Rodgers, the relationship specialist from Netflix’s soon to launch dating reality show.
Love on the Spectrum is structured as a documentary and split into five hourlong episodes. It follows several neurodiverse people - some of whom have never met before, while others are in long-term relationship - doing their best to navigate dating and love.
The series is produced by Northern Pictures, a Blue Ant Media company, with the support of Screen Australia, in association with ABC Television. The show originally aired on ABC Australia in November 2019 will be branded as a Netflix original in all countries outside of Australia.
