CJ ENM’s hit music game show ‘I Can See Your Voice’ fixed its premiered date on FOX. Set to debut on Wednesday, Sept 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the show will be hosted by comedian and actor, Ken Jeong. This follows the announcement of the license deal back in February earlier this year. It will be produced by FOX Alternative Entertainment.
Ken Jeong will also join James McKinlay, Craig Plestis and Lee Seon-young, the original creator of ‘I Can See Your Voice’ in Korea, to executive-produce the show. The music mystery show will feature Emmy®-nominated actress Cheryl Hines and Daytime Emmy® Award-winning television host and vocalist Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, as they join Jeong, a rotating panel of celebrity detectives.
Lee Seon-young, executive producer and creator of the format said: “Ever since I had planned and created I Can See Your Voice, dating back to 2012, I had only wondered if the show could be aired in the US. I am now very excited to finally have a fixed air date. Working with FOX Alternative and Ken Jeong was a pleasure, especially as they expressed their enthusiasm for the show. All the good singers and bad singers on the FOX version are hilarious and the guessing game was pure joy. I am definitely looking forward to the premiere.”
Diane Min, Format Sales Head at CJ ENM said: “We are thrilled to finally confirm the premiere dates of our show on FOX this fall. It will definitely be the new sensation where families will gather for a night of endless guessing! We had a successful debut in Germany in August, and we are sure to keep the excitement going in the US as well.”
“Safely filming I CAN SEE YOUR VOICE this summer was a win in itself, but when we saw the pure magic of the show and felt the palpable suspense in the room before that first note hit, we knew we had to share it with audiences this season,” said Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment & Specials, FOX Entertainment. “It’s no secret that viewers need a little fun and escape now and, as a companion to an all-new season of THE MASKED SINGER, this will be a fantastic night of family entertainment – and a fantastic night of Ken Jeong!”
‘I Can See Your Voice’ is an Emmy®-nominated format created by CJ ENM and premiered on channel mnet in 2015 and has been broadcasted for 7 seasons to date in Korea. It has been commissioned in 12 countries around the world. Most recently, it had aired on RTL in Germany as a primetime show with more than 2 million viewers.
The purpose of this show is to find, among six or seven contestants, which ones are good singers and which ones are tone-deaf based on their visual appearance and demeanor, and without hearing them sing live. With a prize money of $100,000, the final singer will sing a duet with the musical star, where they will finally reveal if they are a good singer or someone who can’t sing a single tune.
