Brazil’s RecordTV and Amazon Prime Video have jointly commissioned Youngest Media’s dating show Game of Clones having picked up the format from distributor The Story Lab.
The cross-platform pact in Latin America will see Game of Clones run concurrently in Brazil on free-to-air network RecordTV and Amazon’s streaming service from October.
The show, in which a singleton moves into a luxury house with clones of their perfect partner as they try to find love in one week, will also be available to Portuguese-speaking audiences in more than 100 countries on RecordTV International.
Produced locally by Endemol Shine Brazil, the 10-part series is now in production in São Paulo, ahead of its launch in a weekly primetime slot on RecordTV.
Having launched the format on E4 in the UK and MTV in the US, The Story Lab has rolled out local versions in countries including Germany (RTL2) and France (NRJ 12).
This latest international pick-up of Game of Clones marks The Story Lab’s first deal in Brazil as the company continues to build its presence in Latin America, having already established an operation in Mexico. In fact, its format All Star Driving School premiered in Mexico in May on the Sony Channel and E! Entertainment, while it is also streaming on Amazon Prime and Claro Video.
Michael Iskas, The Story Lab’s global president, said: “This deal partners market leaders in broadcasting, streaming and content creation to bring the groundbreaking Game of Clones format to screens in Brazil and Portuguese-speaking viewers around the world. This is a further example of The Story Lab building alliances with key content partners on the ground as we continue to expand our business in major markets around the world.”
