ZDF Enterprises is the co-producer and global distributor for a new history series, Ancient Apocalypse (6 x 50'), produced by World Media Rights for ZDF.info. Using scientific expertise, the series investigates the collapse of six of the world’s greatest civilisations.
Ralf Rueckauer, Vice President of ZDFE.unscripted, ZDF Enterprises, said: “Our partnership with World Media Rights has generated a number of outstanding productions, with Ancient Apocalypse being the latest. Their reputation for recreating historical moments, in depth research and compelling storytelling, has resulted in a series that will engage audiences everywhere.”
Uncovering the reasons why some of history’s most fascinating peoples have disappeared, Ancient Apocalypse investigates the end of the Akkadian Empire, the Lost City of Helike, Sodom, the mystery of the Sea Peoples, the Maya Civilisation and Doggerland. Whether buried under the earth, in the shade of the jungle or within the teeming industry of a modern city, the series explores these captivating stories to understand why something so great could all but vanish.
With production completed on Ancient Apocalypse, the title is now part of ZDF Enterprises’ impressive history catalogue that also includes the recently announced WW2 series Frontlines, The Abyss - Rise and Fall of the Nazis and Myths - The Great History of Humanities.
