Global content creator and distributor, The Story Lab, today announced that SBS in Belgium has ordered a first season of the remotely filmed cooking class format, “All Together at the Table”.
Produced locally by SBS, the new version of the live, interactive show is co-hosted by Belgian celebrity chef, Dominique Persoone and comedian Jani Kazaltzis. The series launches on November 11th and will air Mondays to Fridays at 6:45pm for a five-week run.
The launch of “All Together at the Table” on SBS follows The Story Lab’s acquisition of the format in July. The original version has become a breakout hit for M6 in France, where it continues to achieve some of the highest ever ratings for its access prime time slot. M6 has now picked up a third season of the show, which has been billed as ‘the biggest cooking class in France’.
The deal with SBS was brokered by The Story Lab’s Global Sales and Development Manager, Olivia Haynes, having first introduced the format to the international marketplace at MIPCOM 2020.
Annick Bongers Program Director at SBS comments: “As we enter a challenging new phase of lockdown in Belgium, ‘All Together at the Table’ offers a great recipe of cooking tips, celebrities and fun that is sure to whet the appetite of our viewers at home. We Belgians are famously proud of our cooking and we are excited to add this to the menu for our audience’s evening viewing.”
Olivia Haynes comments: “Our deal with SBS means that ‘All Together at The Table’ is set to replicate its success in France and become ‘the biggest cooking class in Belgium’. SBS’s production of the show proves how this format is ideally suited to socially distanced filming and can, if needed, be delivered within an exceptionally short time frame.”
“All Together at the Table” sees a famous chef host a live, interactive cooking masterclass directly from their own kitchen. In each episode, the chef must work against the clock to cook up a menu for four people composed of a starter and a main course, or a main course and a dessert.
Before going to air, the chef reveals the menu and the necessary ingredients via their and the broadcaster’s social media networks, so that viewers can follow the recipe and cook in real time during the live show.
Every evening, the host chef is joined remotely by a co-host of the show (their “most faithful disciple”) as well as three families from different parts of the country, all of whom must try and keep up with the live cooking instructions, working from their respective kitchens at home. Also thrown into the mix is a surprise celebrity guest who joins the fun from their own kitchen, along with their family.
The audience interaction built into the format includes a live, behind-the-scenes stream from the chef’s social media accounts, featuring questions from viewers being answered in real time. Fans can also send their dishes to the chef's Instagram account, to be highlighted on the next day's live show. In addition, each episode sees the chef and their assistant make a surprise video call, with the help of an accomplice, to a viewer registered on the show’s website, giving them the opportunity to also join the show and cook live from their kitchen.
The original version of “All Together at the Table” on M6 is hosted by celebrity chef, Cyril Lignac. “Tous en Cuisine avec Cyril Lignac” is created and produced by French production house, Kitchen Factory Production (part of STORYPLUS - led by CEO, Matthieu Jean-Toscani). The series has so far aired 99 episodes since launching on 24th March 2020.
