Stealing the Show! completely reinvents the traditional quiz show format, as three celebrity contestants and a member of the public all compete to win the most extraordinary prize in quiz show history: the show itself!
The original version (local title: Wer stiehlt mir die Show?), has been a breakout hit for ProSieben in Germany with an audience share up to 20.5% in the key 14-49-year old demo, beating the channel’s average share by 125% compared with 2020’s figures. The series also captured the 14-29-year-old demo with an average share of over 23%. A second season has already been commissioned, which is set to air later this year.
Stealing the Show! offers three celebrity contestants and a member of the public the chance to literally steal the show and take control of the next episode as quiz master.
The host fires fun and outrageous questions at the contestants in an attempt to avoid losing control of their own show. After each round, the losing contestant leaves, until only one is left to go head-to-head with the host in the nail-biting finale. Winning the show means in the next episode they get to become the quiz master, deciding everything from the theme and tone of the show, to the rules of the game. But the panel of contestants includes the previous, defeated host. Will they be able to steal back their show, or will another new quiz master be crowned?
Tim Gerhartz, SVP Global Sales at Red Arrow Studios International, said: “Stealing the Show! is a bold, audacious and original concept, which breathes new energy into the quiz show genre and perfectly complements our slate of noisy gameshow formats. The remarkable response to the show on ProSieben is testament to its broad family appeal and ability to deliver impressive ratings in a primetime slot. We look forward to building upon the show’s local success and bringing this thrilling new format to the international market.”
Red Arrow Studios International also holds global format rights to Beat the Channel, a riotous gameshow format based on the German mega-hit Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben, which was originally created by Florida Entertainment for ProSieben.
