This time, the ten teams of two contestants (husband and wife, brother and sister, friends...) leave Italy to reach the Sultan Route to Dubai in 8 weeks.
The 8,000 mile trip includes stops through Istanbul, Petra following Marco Polo's route. Each team member is only given €2 a day to survive and therefore must be inventive and find a way to travel for free (hitch hike and sleep-over). The team that first reaches the checkpoint scores points. At each checkpoint, they have to take on a challenge. The winning team is given an "advance" on other teams in points.The team with the fewest points is eliminated. The elimination takes place every other week. The two finalist teams reach Peking where they are pitted against each other in a final challenge in order to win the grand prize.
