All3Media International has added another new format adaptation to the Snackmasters line-up.
Belgian broadcaster RTL TVI has launched its own local version of the BAFTA-nominated Optomen Television series. Produced by Belgian independent producer Lecter Media and airing locally as Snackmasters, la recette secrete, the series sees top chefs battling it out to recreate the nation’s favourite snacks.
As reported locally, Snackmasters is also heading to Australia, with the production of a local version announced at Nine Network’s 2022 Upfronts. The series will be produced by Warner Bros International Television Production and will be hosted by Scott Pickett, Poh Ling Yeow with Yvie Jones.
Optomen Television’s original UK version, which airs on Channel 4, is now in its second and was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award in 2020. The series is hosted by renowned maître d' Fred Sirieix and comedian Jayde Adams.
Can chefs crack the secrets of the snack? Offering a cooking challenge like no other, each episode of Snackmasters sees two of the country’s greatest fine-dining chefs battling it out to make perfect replicas of one of the nation’s best-loved snacks, from classic candies to fast-food favourites. With nothing to help them other than limitless supplies of the snack and their taste buds, can they work out the genius behind these seemingly simple snacks?
The host is there every step of the way to share in their culinary triumphs and failures while their comedic co-host visits each product’s factory to unlock the mysteries of how they’re really made. Each episode culminates with the two chefs cooking their version of the snack head-to-head before a judging panel of the factory’s workers. Which chef will be crowned champion, and will either capture the magic of the iconic product?
