Following a successful first season in the fall of 2020, the second season, again hosted and executive-produced by Ken Jeong, is set to launch on January 5, 2022. The commission of the second season in the US continues the success of CJ ENM's global hit format.
Season One of the music mystery show averaged a 1.3/7 Adults 18-49 Live + 7 Day rating in its first season, making it the #1-t new entertainment program of the 2020-21 season among Adults 18-34 and Teens. The series drew 6.2 million multiplatform viewers, +56% vs. Live + Same Day.
Executive producer James McKinlay said, “In Season Two the game is bigger with brand-new battle rounds, a unique celebrity lifeline and larger cash prizes. As always, it will be an emotional roller coaster of tears, laughter and, of course, truly unique singing talent, all with host Ken Jeong at the wheel!”
Originally created by South Korean media powerhouse CJ ENM, I Can See Your Voice features contestants who must guess whether a mystery singer is a good singer or bad singer - without actually hearing them sing - based only on lip sync performances, a series of clues and interrogation. The rule is to eliminate bad singers and leave one good singer at the end, who will perform with a guest music star and try to win prize money for the contestant. The format has been adapted in 23 territories, including the US, UK and Canada.
The format recently received international recognition at 2021 Fresh TV Formats, presented by CEO of the Wit, Virginia Mouseler, as one of the top five formats that have been adapted the most over the last six months.
Diane Min, Head of Format Sales at CJ ENM, said “We are very excited to reveal the launching date of the second season with Fox. Even in the global pandemic that affected productions, we have collaborated closely to contribute to the successful launch of the new season. As a big fan of the show myself, I can’t wait to see it.”
Meanwhile, the German version of the format currently is in production to come back to RTL next year for Season Three.
