On the first day of OnSeries held in Lisboa on November 25-26, the media agency Gega explained how the fiction is evolving throught a panel titled “Fiction anytime, anywhere: narrative trends and themes of the future” presented by Gloria Saló, Director of Production and Content Consulting at GECA.
"Fiction is currently nourished by books, video games, transmedia content and podscast, this last trend is currently growing a lot," she said.
Saló mentioned the Apple TV + anthological drama “Calls” (9x12`), an audio content produced by Bad Hombre and Studio Canal; the fiction podcast “Caso 63” (1'x15`) from Spotify Chile; the comedy podcast “Only Murders in the Building” (10x30 '), which became a series produced by 20th and broadcast by Hulu; the podcasts that became series "Dr Dead" (8x60 '), a medical drama broadcast by Peacock and "Homecoming" (10x30'), the psychological thriller broadcast on Amazon USA.
GECA in his study also described the video game “Arcane” (9x40`), an animated series that came to the screen thanks to Netflix and the series that became video games such as “Stranger Things” (Netflix) and the video game launched by Telecinco Cinema of Spain on PlayStation.
The GECA executive also referred to the webtoons “Shadow Beauty” (13x20 '), a drama series from South Korea, “#martyisdead” (8x15') broadcast by Mall.tv from the Czech Republic and the stories born from platforms of social media such as “Oorlog-stories” (4x8 ') from YouTube in New Zealand and “Het Videodagboek Van Anne Frank” (20x8'), a New Zealand drama series broadcast on NPO3. Finally, GECA highlighted the vertical format “Two Sides: Unfaithful” from Snapchat and the metafiction “Principio, Meio e Film” (6x50 ’), a comedy by OPTO and SIC Portugal.
