Mediaset Distribution is virtually heading to Berlinale Series Market with hit drama The Good Family, a Lina Wertmüller feature film and a catalogue of documentaries
Claudia Marra, Mediaset Distribution’s Manager is organizing virtual meetings with her clients for the upcoming Berlinale Festival & Market.
“This year I am particularly happy to take a film by Lina Wertmüller on her anniversary, as I’d like to pay tribute to her extraordinary creativity with a feature film produced by Mediaset and broadcast on Canale 5 in 1990. I am talking of Sabato, Domenica e Lunedì (Saturday Sunday and Monday) based on a comedy by the Neapolitan writer Edoardo de Filippo.

Sabato, domenica e lunedì (1990) is a comedy directed by Lina Wertmüller, based on piece of Eduardo De Filippo starring Sophia Loren. The movie was initially broadcast by Canale 5 in two episodes and then released theatrically. The story is focused on Peppino and Rosa who have been married for about 30 years. They live in a large house with a sea view in the Rione Terra with their children Rocco and Giulianella, grandfather Don Antonio, and Aunt Amelia. In this domestic comedy, Rosa (Sophia Loren), a mature mother of several children, is concerned that her beloved husband Don Peppino (Luca de Filippo) is losing interest in her and does his best to provoke some jealousy in him. She is a masterful cook, and if her romantic charms are fading, her culinary skills are not. By one means and another, and after some amusing confrontations, she succeeds in keeping her husband from taking her for granted and harmony is restored.
Other titles proposed by Mediaset Distribution include hit drama series The Good Family recently broadcast by Mediaset with a very good result of 3.5mln viewers and an average share of 17.7% in all the 4 episodes- drama series On the Brink (Oltre la Soglia), thriller series The Silence of Water (Il Silenzio dell’acqua) season 1 &2, comedy series Dear Brothers and documentary Rome.

The Good Family/Una famiglia perbene

Their childhood friendship evolves into a love story hampered by their families and the decadence that surrounds them.

On the Brink/Oltre la Soglia
(12 episodes of 50’, produced by Paypermoon) is a medical drama launched by flagship Canale 5 with an average share of 8.69%. The intense drama is centred on the daily life of a psychiatrist (Gabriella Pession) who deals with teenagers with mental problems. Tosca is an out-of-the-ordinary psychiatrist. A rebellious spirit, apparently ill-equipped to assume a role of great responsibility, she has an extraordinary intuition and manages to understand patients' problems better than other colleagues. Tosca also hides a secret that led her to make certain choices as she was diagnosed schizophrenic in her childhood. In each episode there is finished story of a different patient.

The Silence of Water/Il Silenzio dell’acqua
(8x50’ episodes produced by Garbo Productions 2 seasons broadcast by Canale 5 and France 3) is a mystery thriller set in the community of a small village by the sea, shocked by the brutal murder of adolescent Laura and by the terrible discovery of the culprit. The investigations led by the duo-cops formed by Andrea Baldini, the local police inspector and Luisa Ferrari a homicide policewoman from the city of Trieste were very positive but each one was dealing with different family issues. In the second season when everything in the small village of Castel Marciano seems to turn again in the peaceful and quite place as it was, the community is shocked again by a double homicide. The local cop Andrea must make an important decision for his life and career, but also faces a threat from his past, while the colleague Luisa Ferrari is divided by her desire to be a mother. The new crime involves also a little girl that seems to be very attracted to the cop Luisa. Starring Ambra Angiolini and Giorgio Pasotti.
