All3Media International has sent globally resonant feature-length documentary The Anti-Vax Conspiracy to a host of new territories around the world. Produced by Caravan and Quicksilver Media for Channel 4, UK and Arte, France, the 90’ film explores the origins and growth of the anti-vaccination movement and its impact on global efforts to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic.
The award-winning special, which is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Colette Camden (Married to a Paedophile, Imagine), has been acquired by SVOD BBC Select in North America. In the Asia Pacific region, rights to The Anti-Vax Conspiracy have been secured by Now TV for Hong Kong and Public Television Service (PTS) for Taiwan.
A number of European deals also feature in this new round of sales – discovery+ has acquired rights to the special for Italian-speaking territories, and acquisitions have been signed with NRK (Norway), Sýn hf (Iceland), DPG Media (Belgium), CANAL + Polska (Poland), RTV Slovenija (Slovenia) and Eesti Rahvusringhääling (Estonia).
These latest sales follow the previously announced pan-territory deal for The Anti-Vax Conspiracy with HBO Max in Latin America. The documentary – which recently won the AIB award for Investigative Documentary TV and Video and was nominated for a Realscreen Award – was commissioned by Channel 4 in the UK and Arte in France.
Rachel Job, SVP Non-Scripted Content at All3Media International, commented, “As the pandemic continues to impact us all, this deep dive into the anti-vaccination movement has been in strong demand from our clients, as reflected in this wide range of deals. Offering an in-depth investigation into one of the most important stories of our times, delivered by a team of award-winning creatives, The Anti-Vax Conspiracy presents 360-degree coverage, thorough research and dramatic capture of emotions, and we know these qualities will make it a must-watch film as it rolls out around the world.”
The Anti-Vax Conspiracy combines a globally resonant story with a forensically detailed investigation into the anti-vaccination movement. Exploring some of its more disturbing activities and featuring interviews with leading experts on the anti-vaccination movement, some of its leading proponents, and parents on both sides of the battle, the documentary sheds new light on a growing organisation spreading fear and chaos which cannot be ignored.
The documentary is produced by Flora Bagenal (Dispatches) and executive producers are BAFTA and RTS Award winner Dinah Lord (Grayson Perry: Who Are You?), and BAFTA and Emmy Award winner Eamonn Matthews (Outbreak, Frontline).
