Fremantle has acquired the global distribution rights to The Next Restaurant, marking its first foray into the realm of food-based reality competition shows.
Each week, the format sees four contestants share their detailed visions for a new restaurant. The winner gets to open their restaurant to the public for a week, during which diners, investors, restaurant critics and the show’s judges score its service. The contestant who gets the highest score at the end of the season will receive their dream restaurant for an entire year.
The production was originally created by Ami Glam and Yuval Cohen for Israel’s Reshet 13, where it debuted in January to record ratings.
