On April 8th and 9th, a live recording of Cancellation Island will take place in Brooklyn. The new scripted podcast is written and performed by actor and director John Cameron Mitchell, and produced by Topic Studios. While the cast has not yet been revealed, Mitchell has announced that many well-known names from the television scene will be starring. This news has generated a lot of excitement, especially considering Mitchell's previous collaboration with Topic Studios, the musical podcast Anthem: Homunculus, which featured performances by esteemed actors such as Glenn Close, Marion Cotillard, Denis O'Hare, Patti Lupone, Nakhane, and Cynthia Erivo.

Cancellation Island is an eight-episode series that aims to satirize cancel culture. The story follows Karen, a wellness guru, and her specially curated team of Gen Z'ers as they train and assist canceled attendees to reintegrate into society. This is a significant project for Topic Studios, who, besides the well-known works of their television and film divisions, have already established themselves in the podcast industry with successful productions such as Not Lost and Somebody, which was even a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
